Big Plans for Hughes Goes Green!

Hughes has set great goals for reducing it’s impact on the environment.  This year the school plants to recycle 1.5 tons of plastic and aluminum and 20 tons of paper and cardboard!  Parents are encouraged to help Hughes “Save-A-Ton”  by sending in plastic bottles and aluminum cans to the school every Friday morning.  Students can drop off recyclables in the purple bins outside the Hughes gates on California, Roosevelt, and Bixby Roads — or they can bring them into the bike rack to exchange for raffle tickets for fabulous prizes!   Revenue from the recyclables goes to support the Green Team’s campus landscape projects and all-Campus Work-Days.  Upcoming Work-Days are scheduled for Saturdays:   January 15 and April 16th.   Students, parents, and neighbors kicked off the work-day program with many amazing projects in October.  See the photos for a taste of how much Hughes can achieve in one morning!
