Welcome to World History!

SIXTH GRADE

This course covers world events from prehistoric to Roman times.  Included in this is the study of world geography, early man, several ancient civilizations, and many world religions.  Students will also work on developing and refining their critical thinking and writing skills through different types of assessments, including essays, multiple choice tests, quizzes, homework, and research projects.

SEVENTH GRADE

This course covers world events from the decline of the Roman Empire to the beginning of the modern era.  This is generally what is called the "Middle Ages."  Units of study include: Rome, Islam, Africa, Medieval Europe, the Americas, China, and Japan.  Students will also work on developing and refining their critical thinking and writing skills through different types of assessments, including essays, multiple choice tests, quizzes, homework, and research projects.

Supply List

Having these supplies everyday will contribute to your success:

  • Hughes Agenda / Planner (issued on first day of school)
  • Folder for history or section for history in a binder
  • At least two #2 pencils
  • At least two blue/black pens
  • At least two red pens
  • Colors (pencils or crayons ok)
  • Personal pencil sharpener
  • Filler paper
  • Glue (optional)
  • Markers (optional)
  • Scissors (optional)
