Charles Evans Hughes Middle School offers one of the most outstanding music programs in the state. We offer the opportunity for students to take their music class every day for an hour. Dedicated music educators also offer Chorale and Jazz Band, before school. A music friendly master schedule makes it possible for a 6th grade student who qualifies, to be a part of an advanced ensemble. Auditions for intermediate and advanced groups are held during the spring and summer. A comprehensive approach integrates theory, sight-reading skills, performance skills and the aesthetics of music.

Each year, Hughes musicians earn top ratings at festivals. Many concerts are scheduled, including Winter, Festivals and Spring. Our intermediate and advanced groups participate in either a Disney Performing Arts Workshop at Disneyland or Forum Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm. Our annual Concert in the Park brings together all our musicians in an outside festival of music and entertainment. During the last ten years all our top ensembles have been selected to perform at Disneyland through the Community Arts Showcase program. Our alumni place in the most select groups at the high school level. Our ensembles have consistently earned Sweepstakes and Superior Ratings at most festivals.

Join the Chorus, Band or Orchestra and be a part of a "team" that can last a lifetime! Band, Orchestra, or Choir must be your Choice 1 on your middle school elective sheet.
