season ends at home
After getting second life in this year's playoff run, the Hughes basketball team fell in the late moments to visiting Lindbergh.
The Owls started the game with a fury of offense and intimidating defense and seemed, at times, to have the game in control. Hughes had a 7-point lead at the half and found a way to stretch that lead midway into the 3rd quarter. Lindbergh fought back and closed the gap to single digits late in the third and took over on defense in the fourth. Hughes, looking tired, tried desperately to mount a late rally, but fell short with just seconds left.
All in all, the Owls had a very good season while playing in a division that rarely sees as many teams with as much talent as this years'. The boys will now give way to the Lady Owls in hopes that they can claim another championship for HMS. Better luck next year boys!
