Mr. Temple

Counselor/6th Grade Learning Director

HelloMy path to becoming a proud Hughes Owl started about 20 years ago when I graduated Long Beach State with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts.  With no clear path for the future, I began traveling extensively and working in schools whenever I returned home.

It wasn’t long before I realized that helping young students grow and develop was something that I was meant to do.

I went back to Long Beach State and got a Master’s Degree in School Counseling, and back to school for a third time to obtain my Administrative Credential from Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Now in my 18th year of middle school counseling, I still wake up each morning, excited to help young students navigate those rough, adolescent waters.

I am blessed to be a Hughes Owl, and welcome our new students and families who join us in our pursuits of excellence and achievement.

How do students access services?

Any student may complete a Request to See Counselor form (located in the Main Office)

  • Teachers may refer a student in need to see a counselor
  • Parents may request a counselor to check-in with a student

MRs. SANCHEZ

Intervention Counselor

jssHello Hughes Owls! I am very excited to be your Counselor! I attended Hughes as a middle school student myself and am very happy to return to our beautiful campus.

My experience in education spans over 14 years in Long Beach Unified School District. I have worked at all levels K-12 and in the administrative offices. I attended Cerritos Community College, California State University, Dominguez Hills and the University of Southern California where I earned my Master’s Degree in School Counseling.

As a School Counselor, it is important to me that you are successful and I am here to support your academic and social/emotional needs. I have tons of resources and am excited to help you on your middle school journey.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with my husband, daughter and our two dogs. I enjoy reading, watching movies and crafting.

I am excited to work with you! Please feel free to stop by my office and say hello. Let’s have a great school year together!
